Voluntary Work and Emeriti
ESO offers the possibility for retired ESO staff members who wish to continue working at ESO on a voluntary basis to follow their own research interests and/or to otherwise support ESO’s activities. On initiative from the GAC-EPA, and taking some of our feedback into account, ESO has published two documents that provide the management framework for these activitiies:
- Guidelines on the management of voluntary activities of ESO retired staff
- Guidelines on the management of Emeriti
The first document concerns pensioners who wish to continue working at ESO on a voluntary basis to follow their own research interests and/or to otherwise support ESO’s activities. The second document deals Emeriti specifically .
Both documents have become effective as of 1 August 2021. Practical experience with these guidelines will be gathered and if necessary updates to these guidelines will be made.
